Real Life: Week 1

We live in an amazing country that upholds the human right to a variety of freedoms—freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom to choose our leaders, freedom to ownership, and so on. We recognize that these freedoms have come at the cost of the many soldiers who have fought to protect these rights over the lifespan of our country. We do well to remember these sacrifices and, even more, to honor them with the way that we live as citizens of the nation. As followers of Jesus, we must also recognize that the greatest way to be good citizens of the nation is to realize that we have an even higher calling as citizens of heaven. And we have an even greater freedom that comes through the sacrifice of Jesus. Living as followers of Christ and following Him with a Christlike life does not diminish our example, it maximizes our example and positive impact on our nation and the world.
