What are Small Groups?

Small Groups at Getwell Southaven are smaller gatherings that meet during the week, offering a space to grow in relationship with Jesus and with one another. These groups are centered on studying Scripture, praying, and just simply sharing life together.

When do Small Groups meet?

Small Groups Gather for 14 weeks in the Fall and Spring.

They meet once a week on Wednesday nights at 6PM, following the Wednesday night meal at 5PM.

What is the goal of Small Groups?

Small Groups are about more than just meeting up, they're about growing closer to Jesus and each other. We know that following Jesus isn’t something we do alone, and we grow best walking alongside others, encouraging each other, and living out our faith together.

What if I don't want to Join a Small Group?

If you don't want to join a Small Group we also have some classes available on Wednesday nights. See details below!

Bill & Tricia Bates

About Our Group:
Bill and Tricia Bates have been at Getwell for over a year and have been praying for God's direction in how they can use their gifts to serve Him. So they were overjoyed to be asked to lead a new Small Group this Fall and get to know new people in the church through this group! They are parents to two sons, Alexander and Matthew. Bill loves to be outdoors boating and fishing while Tricia enjoys her time reading, cooking, and baking. They both love spending time with family as much as they can.

Gordon & Blakely Dendy

Gordon and Blakely Dendy are excited to kick off this Fall semester leading a new Small Group! They have been very active members of Getwell Church for 20 years and have watched their children, Abby Grace, 19, and Brayden, 17, grow up through Kids Ministry and Student Ministry. The family loves traveling to new places, cheering on the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and game nights with friends. In their free time, you can find Gordon in a deer stand hunting and Blakely on an outdoor run.

Craig & Jeretta Dickey

Craig and Jeretta have been a part of Getwell Church for two years and are really looking forward to continuing serving in this leadership role as Small Group leaders and developing new friendships in the church. During their spare time, Craig loves to cook outdoors, and Jeretta loves spending time with her horse, her dogs or landscaping. They both have a love for hosting and enjoy entertaining in their home. They also just learned scuba diving together! During the football season, their home is divided on who they cheer for - Craig is all about Tennessee football while Jeretta cheers for LSU and Ole Miss.

Wednesday Night Classes

Not ready for a small group yet or just want to try something different?
We also have Classes available on Wednesday nights for you!

Heart of a Man

God creates the heart of man with an identity and a calling. Men are created to receive God’s redeeming grace, to be called sons of the Lord, and to join with God in His mission to care for creation and the people made in God’s image. The world may fear, and even attack, the masculine heart, but it is absolutely necessary for us to thrive and live in healthy relationships. In this 7-week series, led by Jonathan Wallace, we will explore the core relationships and the core responsibilities to love that are wired in the masculine heart.

Women of the Word

We all know how important it is to study God's Word, but sometimes it’s hard to know where or how to start. Life throws us many challenges in taking the time to gain the knowledge of Scripture. How can we, as Christian women, keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible? Join us in this class led by Christina Horton as we journey through "Women of the Word" by Jen Wilkin. This book offers a clear and concise plan to help women go deeper in their study of Scripture, while also equipping us to engage God’s Word in a way that trains your mind and transforms your heart.

Heaven

This class is a walk through and study of a book written by Randy Alcorn, led by Jeff Edwards and Jason Grissom. We all have questions about what Heaven will be like, and after twenty-five years of extensive research, Dr. Randy Alcorn has the answers. In the most comprehensive and definitive book on Heaven to date, Randy invites you to picture Heaven the way Scripture describes it―a bright, vibrant, and physical New Earth, free from sin, suffering, and death, and brimming with Christ’s presence, wondrous natural beauty, and the richness of human culture as God intended it. This is a book about real people with real bodies enjoying close relationships with God and each other, eating, drinking, working, playing, traveling, worshiping, and discovering on a New Earth. Earth as God created it. Earth as he intended it to be. The next time you hear someone say, “We can’t begin to image what Heaven will be like,” you’ll be able to tell them, “I can.”

Book of Daniel

Join us as we dive verse by verse into the prophecies found in the book of Daniel in this class led by Raymond Flores. We will discover how these prophecies are the key to unlocking all biblical prophecy as Daniel explained the past and the future of Israel and Gentile nations according to the divine plan and purposes of God.
